12 Days of Christmas Swap

This year I am taking part in the twelve days of Christmas swap in the yahoo group Aust Art Sisters... have (well had two are now opened lol) 12 gifts here that we all open one day at a time starting yesterday.  

Day one was a calendar from Gaye Todd... mine is a lovely green colour.. .The words day 'The Time Is Now' and 'Count The Days'.. very apt... as we are counting down to moving house on Dec 29th.vbg

Day Two is a necklace made by Kasha Rolley... soft black velvet neckband, silver beads, little tree of life charm.. and lovely little sterling silver wrapped bales... so cool!

I have my twelve days sitting in a box here on the desk.. otherwise I may 'loose' them in the packing lol.. house looks like a bomb hit it at the moment with boxes piling up in all corners...Studio is all packed... only 15 days till we move and I wont have time to 'art' so its all packed away.. 28 cartons! LOL

4FL Play Day

Yes.. the big change is Glenda is now a fully fledged FL vbg..while still the smallest member of our motley crew, she is still just a tad behind me in the weight stakes so I have promoted her.. now dontcha feel good about that Glenda? vbg (not) LOL

We had our monthly play day today at Lucy's and have started on Stephanie Lee's book Semi Precious Salvage, starting today with the first project - a pin.  I decided I didnt want mine to be pin and instead would convert it to a necklace.. Glenda and Eliza had the same idea - only Lucy stuck to the plan and made hers into a pin.

 We started out by stamping the metal (we all had diff metal - depended on what we had scraps of).  Mine was copper, Eliza used zinc, Lucy and Glenda used Brass.  Once stamped and sealed we drilled holes in it, bent it to shape, added wire wraps, the roll of burnt paper, pearls and Bob's your Auntie.  From there I made wire wrapped loops, added jump rings, and then added the silk ribbon instead of chain.

Lucy then showed us how to make wire nests and I added mine to my pendant.  Had a lovely day and love my pendant!

Furbabies

 ahhh intersting day... Son turned up unexpectedly today with his two 'sons' in tow (Boris the bulldog and Darcy the boxer).... which is nice, he doesnt visit his momma enough and I love my granfurbabies.

Maggie however has issues....LOL... she loves Darcy, but Boris is just way to rough for her... when he turns up her eyes widen even further and she looks for the darkest, tallest place to hide where he can't reach her or see her.  Last time he was here he couldnt jump on chairs so she just hopped up on the desk chair, she found this time he has learnt to jump and the two of them were on my desk chair with maggie trying to melt into the upholstry and Boris literally on top of her covering her with doggie kisses.  

I ended up putting her little bed on my desk while I worked and she sat in it the whole day, safe in her little tower from Boris, who is full of love, but built like a Samoan footballer with all the grace and finesse of a Mac truck with a full load of bricks aboard LOL.

 

Classes with Ro

 On Saturday just gone, Lucy, Christine Treleaven and I headed up to Ro Bruhn's for a jewellry class.

Like all great expeditions we got lost along the way even with the help of Tom Tom who was outsmarted by the roadworks (a polite name for mayhem and bedlam) on the M1 upgrade.We are in good company though, and I swear we passed by Livingston looking as confused as us as we went in circles past the same corner three times! 

We turned around at one point and headed back toward the city enabling us to get back on track..once we actually made it into the Burnley Tunnel we made good time all the way to Ro's and arrived just under half and hour late.

Ro was a great teacher, patient, smiling, very happy to repeat herself a dozen times when some of us struggled with the 'wraps'... the class room was lovely, full of lots of natural light with an amazing view, her hubby Steve put on an superb lunch which we did great justice to... we all finished our necklaces, and at the end of the day was given a souvenir pic of our class to take home... what a great day and a class act.. can't wait to go back and do another class!
